New Feather Notecard

I scanned the actual marbled feathers on my printer and I found a quote I liked. This is the 5th one in the feather notecard series. I wonder if anyone is physically sending cards thru the mail or if everything is e-mail and texting? I hope not!

Handwriting was my favorite subject in school., I've had the same fountain pen for many years.

Moody Blues and an Eggbound Blue and Gold Macaw

My  beautiful Blue and Gold (Quill) for the second time in 15 years became eggbound and to make a long  story short, she spent five days at the vet hospital in hopes of laying that egg (she is at least 40 and that is way too old) and surgery is not the way to go. I spent 5 days driving a three hour round trip to see her and spending two hours with her evey day so she didn't feel that mommy abandoned her. My wonderful avian vet was able to collapse the egg and not do any surgery. He did the same thing 15 years ago-it is tricky~but he is a wonderful bird vet, I am lucky. So my ole girl, who should be thru her nesting practices will be here another 50 years!(or at least another decade!)

My new endeavor is called the Moody Blues (and yes that tells how old I am) sooooooo here goes

I was doing some research and I discovered another brand of marbling paints. I ordered their starter kit.
So much of marbling is serendipity. The weather, the water, how well you mix the size, what you mix it with.
It can be completely frustrating~ but I have done platinum printing and Japanese papermaking and it is the same thing. Very dependant upon conditions, weather or otherwise!  Why? I know the personalities of the African Grey Parrot and the Cockatoo.  They are not just "white and gray". They are incredible parrots, that deserve to have their personalities displayed in color. NOT WORDS.......

In Color!

New! New! New! Soft Summer Colors for Marbled Feathers

Actually I had decided to start collecting my "gear" for Japanese Papermaking and for the time being packing my marble paints away BUT I discovered a new brand of paints and  wanted to just test them  before doing that. I ordered a small kit of 6 colors and figured okay, I will see what happens, limited color palatte~ short run. Well, I really had fun! I ended up creating a beautiful summer color scheme and discovered that my experiment with another brand of paints was DIFFERENT....Both are very painterly...I have a gazillion colors in the first brand, only 6 in the second. I wasn't able to do the African Grey feathers-no shimmers! and I gotta have my shimmers for those. I will show you my experiments!

So, I will slowly being listing about 40 new sets. I really should have taken a picture of the kitchen when I was doing this. I have to laugh. I was watching u-tube demo's of different artists who marble and honestly ALL of them start out with pristine white counters, pristine colors jars, fabulously organized everything and magic! all of them end up that way~ while creating beautiful things mind you. I AM SUCH A SLOB!  Well, but also my kitchen is straight out of the 70's! That does help us SLOBS!

Seems like overnight I gained the interest of 5 more blogophiles! What a shock! I was just feeling sorta blue~no sales for a while, but when I discovered all of a sudden I have an audience of 9~well I am sure every one of you know how that feels......so in your honor I found a quote that I think fits the occasion.

How beautiful a day can be when kindness touches it!

I always wonder~as you look at this pairing of marbled and natural feathers~ why o why are scarlett macaws these stunning colors? Actually I think I figured it out. It reflects their somewhat cranky spur of the moment ~ bite now and ask questions later hot hot personality! Her mommy even gets nailed once in a while!  When I babysit for this particular macaw I know immediately that I am her challenge of the day. AND her name is Rio-perfect~ except she doesn't have a bikini wax and she doesn't need a thong so she can show off her perfect butt!

I will ask her mommy for a picture of her.  Right now you can see just her feathers. Can you imagine an animal that wears something so beautiful and she renews it every year? I am amazed. (I really wish I could afford to renew my wardrobe every year!) So I present my original and beautiful marbled feathers that are comparable to Rio's incredibly natural beautiful feathers.
